Now that you've read about a famous American for several days, please share something interesting about him or her. What have you learned that your classmates will be fascinated with or amazed by?

  12. Helen Keller is our biography.

Helen was very sick when she was 19 months old the doctor did not think she would make it but when she recovered she was left blind, deaf and dumb. They want to send her to a school for blind people but she is also deaf and dumb so she would have more trouble learning than the other kids. So they are thinking about taking Helen to a eye doctor in Maryland. The doctor could not do anything so he sent them to Washington DC to see doctor Bell. They got a teacher for Helen and she just arrived and is excited about working with Helen. The teacher was writing words on her hand and she understands them! She went to a doctor that taught Helen how to speak and she said "I am not dumb anymore".

    Mary Todd Lincoln
What Savanna and I have so far on Mary Todd Lincoln is, as a little girl she liked to ride her horse. Once when her step-mother was coming to meet the family for the first time, she was in one of her best dresses she went into the backyard and played in the mud. Right now she is at her step-grandmother's house. We hope the end of the book will be as good as it is now!
